This Thursday Night, we welcome our own Ashley Woolard, candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives in North Carolina’s First District

Beaufort County’s Ashley Woolard returns to the Down East Republican Club this Thursday. Ashley Woolard is running a strong campaign against incumbent Congressman GK Butterfield and is in a position to win. If we all vote, he will!

The theme of "WE NEED JOBS" has been a constant refrain for Ashley since he began his campaign in October and has become his signature opening as he makes appearances around the District. With true unemployment escalating past 16% in recent months, many of our friends and neighbors that want to work and be productive members of society can't because there are no jobs to be had.

Meanwhile G.K. Butterfield travels to Copenhagen with Nancy Pelosi -- a modern day Nero fiddling while our district burns. Butterfield dines on caviar while our people starve.

When folks meet Ashley for the first time, at the courthouse in Elizabeth City, an historic home in Edenton, or just off the circle in downtown Goldsboro, they are struck by his youth, enthusiasm and energy. As he looks new friends straight in the eye, he will often remark, "Free markets make free men (and women, of course)"

Democrats G Butterfield, Frank Balance and Eva Clayton have represented this district for many years. It’s the poorest in North Carolina and they did nothing to improve it. It’s time to elect someone who can. When elected, Ashley Woolard is the Congressman who will.
